There are drip-lined caves, inscriptions and ancient dagobas that reveal that the Rohana kingdoms of the early Anuradhapura period were revived due to this. Some of the caves are inhabited by the monks of the present.
Eight ruined dagabas can be seen in the Kudumbigala forest. There are 50 drip-lined caves in 5 rocks. It contains more than 10 BC.
There are several natural water fountains in this area.
Mammals found in the dry zone include mammals such as elephants, leopards, antelopes, sand deer, wild bears and Wild boars.
From Colombo to Moneragala, Poththuwil this Kudumbigala forest is found at a distance of about 340 k.m.
A hall has been built here for the monks of the forest to come and stay outside.
It is considered to be a place of worship where twelvethousand great Arahants lived in the past.
