Anyone who is interested in hiking or traveling must have heard of Wangedigala. This mountain can be seen from the Kalupahangala junction in the Sabaragamuwa district near the Colombo-Badulla main road.
Nearby is Gonmolli kanda, another mountain range. Gonmolli kanda is also a part of this mountain range.
Wangedigala can be easily found among these mountains. Because this mountain is located so that a mortar can be seen on the other side of the ship. It usually takes about 3 hours to climb this mountain.
The first beautiful place we see while climbing Wangedigala is the highest waterfall in Sri Lanka, 'Bambarakanda' Falls. It was a beautiful scene beyond words. If you look further you can see Lanka Falls. Also, when there is no fog, you can clearly see the border between the sea plain and the mountain plain on the southwest side.
You can see the the devil's stairs, Udawariya area and the Balathotuwa. The Devil's Stairs is the most difficult road in Sri Lanka.
According to an ancient belief, there is a treasure hidden in this mountain. This treasure door can be opened by a person who can say 3 letters to the right tune.
Sabaragamuwa University students are definitely coming to climb Wangedigala.
