Dolukanda is a magical mountain located in the Kurunegala District.
It is popular among climbers, but you must first get permission from the monks. The monks will give you some advice when you climb.
They will say,
"The climb is difficult. You will find footpaths. But be sure to go early. Then you will be able to climb the mountain before dark. Be sure to get off early as the area is completely dark around 4pm."
Dolukanda is a famous range due to the Dolukanda buddist temple.
In the Ramayana, this mountain is known as 'Sanjeevani Kanda' and it is believed that part of the Himalayas fell into this mountain when it was taken away by Hanuman.
It is believed that Sanjeevani magical herb can be found on this mountain which can be used to cure many ailments.
Also, the water of this mountain stream is considered to have very medicinal properties.
This mountain has amazingly beautiful surroundings that attract many tourists.
